Author Review

Ann Rinaldi

I really like to read. I enjoy realistic and historical fiction as well as fantasy/science fiction. Today I'm going to talk about historical fiction, and more specifically, one of my favorite historical fiction authors, Ann Rinaldi. I don't really have favorite authors, because when I like a book by an author, I don't go and look for books by the same author, I just move on. However, because of the astonishing number of books Ann Rinaldi has written, mostly about American history, which is my favorite topic, I have searched out quite a few of her books.

She writes at a middle grade reading level, and her books are relatively short. I think this is good because many people don't like historical fiction. These books are concise, so you won't get bored. If you love historical fiction, they have enough detail to keep your interest. They aren't long, involved historical fiction novels for hardcore historical fiction fans, but they're a nice, quick read.

I have read Sarah's Ground, which was a very good book about a girl trying to keep Mount Vernon, George Washington's famous home, neutral territory during the civil war. I also read Or Give Me Death, a novel about Patrick Henry's family, and The Redhead Princess, which was about Queen Elizabeth before she was Queen.

Have you read anything by Ann Rinaldi? Who is your favorite author?
